FACES ON THE FLOOR
I cannot forget you when you are in my face.
You are part of my world,
And you are all around this place.
Everywhere I see where you once were with me.
I knew that I would love you
The moment that I saw you standing there alone.
I made you mine;
You made me yours.
All of our promises lay flat like a broken mirror.
A hundred faces on the floor,
In their eyes is everything you left behind
Everything I threw away one too many times.
Your gray-green eyes are the forest’s sky,
And I am lost within.
Lay with me on the forest’s floor,
Our bodies bent together like trees grasping for the sun.
Turn your ample lips to me,
And I will whisper “I love you” in your ear,
With a wet breath on your neck,
My hand down your back while you push me away.
What can I say but thanks?
Thank you for loving me,
Thank you for letting me go,
Thank you for nothing.

I wrote this awhile back; (One of the few things I’ve wrote in awhile.) I am just now finding myself comfortable with sharing it. Feel free to let me know what you think.
